NetSports Ceases Hockey Operations

CSHL - News

NetSports (formerly the Carolina Sportsplex), has unexpectedly announced that they are ceasing support for the sport of inline hockey effective March 10th, 2009.  This has severely impacted our plans as a league to exist this season, and we are working hard to recover and compensate for the loss of this facility for our 2009 MS season.  We have no explanation to offer you - we were not disclosed in advance regarding this action.

As a result, please expect that this will the delay the availability of a MS League Schedule, and may also delay the starts of games.  It will also most likely negatively impact the schedules for some teams, in terms of reducing the number of games they will play closer to home.  Stay tuned ...

CSHL Unifies Scholastic Inline Hockey Leagues!

CSHL - NewsFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CSHL Public Relations
Cary, NC - Friday, December 8, 2006

CSHL & Dream Sports Center Unify Wake County Scholastic Leagues

The Carolina Scholastic Hockey League is extremely pleased to announce that Dream Sports Center of Apex, NC, who has over the past several years provided thought-leadership, innovation and support of scholastic inline hockey programs, has agreed to become a primary partner and supporter of CSHL!

Effective this date, CSHL will be working very closely with Dream Sports Center, as well as it's other primary supporters - Central Carolina Hockey, the Carolina Hurricanes, and CSHL's sanctioning organization USA Hockey Inline, to continue to provide a premium, yet affordable competitive scholastic league offering to students in public and private Middle and High Schools across the state of North Carolina.

Dream Sports Center owners Bob Boucher and Rick Ahmed have always focused on providing a safe, fun, family-oriented atmosphere, and also have recognized CSHL's attention to detail, core values and integrity, and as a result indicated "CSHL and Dream Sports' leagues already have a lot in common. The unification of these leagues can only be a good thing for the schools and the kids." CSHL's League Director Mark Howard agrees, and stated "I am very excited to have Dream Sports years of experience on board, I consider them to be an important and essential addition to CSHL's EcoSystem of supporters and sponsors".

Summer's Over - School (and CSHL) is Back In Session!

CSHL - News

Greetings to the Wake County Middle and High School Students and Parents!

Just like you, CSHL had the summer off, but we re-opened the office this week, and are gearing up for what promises to be a very exciting 2006-2007 season!

For those of you who have sent the office e-mail over the summer, we've saved every one, and will respond to them as quickly as we can.

Building upon the success of our 2005-2006 Middle School Pilot League, we have lots of ideas for refinement and improvement this year, and we have also been able to further expand the base of our supporter and partner 'ecosystem' to a much greater extent.

The students and families will be directly experiencing these benefits this season, as they will see a 25% reduction in league fees, as well as additional included 'extras' (additional regular season games, spirit items, partner 'specials') which they will receive as a part of the total league package which is included in those fees.

We would like to take this opportunity to again thank our CSHL ecosystem partners and supporters, especially Central Carolina Hockey and the Carolina Hurricanes. Thanks to CCH and the Hurricanes, who were our primary supporters last season, CSHL Middle School League participants attended a complimentary Hurricanes game during the latter part of the regular season, and through their CCH affiliation, also had the opportunity to attend another game at deeeply discounted rates.

Thanks for supporting our 2005-2006 pilot season, and we look forward to an even greater 2006-2007 season!

Introducing: The Carolina Scholastic Hockey League!

CSHL - NewsFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cary, NC - Monday, February 6, 2006

USA Hockey, USA Hockey Inline, Central Carolina Hockey and the Carolina Hurricanes would like you to know that youth hockey in North Carolina is about to get a big boost!

The Carolina Scholastic Hockey League (CSHL) has been formed as a 501(c)3 non-profit youth sports organization and has been created to support the organization and promotion of hockey as a viable and accessible club sport in the North Carolina public and private school systems, as well as providing program accessibility to home-schooled students.

This will be done with an eye towards understanding what will be needed to elevate the sport to the status of a varsity-level 'letter' sport by building an overall increased awareness of the sport, teaching the necessary knowledge and skills to participate, and maintaining a specific focus on scholarship.
